The Jefferson Transit Authority Board (JTA) meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every other month at 1:30 pm. These meetings will be held virtually until further notice. The meeting link will be posted at prior to the meeting.

On March 30, 2020 with the outbreak of the Coronavirus Jefferson Transit began operating at a reduced level of service to protect public health. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many things but one thing that remains the same is our commitment to safely get you where you need to go.  We have taken steps to protect our employees and riders and anticipate resuming full service on Monday, November 2, 2020.

Routes will operate Monday through Saturday using the Jefferson Transit Bus Schedule dated May 20, 2019 with the following exceptions.

  • Until further notice the #1 Brinnon route will end at the Black Point Turnaround; service to Triton Cove will resume when connecting service to Mason Transit becomes available.
  • Jefferson Transit’s Olympic Connection will remain on reduced service. Please continue to monitor our website for updates.

While returning to full service increases the number of trips per day please be aware boarding the bus will be on a first come first served basis; space limitations for soc

ial distancing limit the number of riders per bus and may require you wait for the next available bus or find alternate transportation.  We understand this is not an ideal situation, regrettably Jefferson Transit does not have the staffing and fleet resources to send vehicles to pick up overflow passengers.

  • Fare Free service remains in effect until further notice.  
  •  Haines Place and Four Corners customer service offices will remain closed.

As we work together through this difficult time we rely on our riders to protect themselves and one another. We ask that riders continue to follow Public Health masking directives, follow social distancing guidelines and use transit for essential travel activities allowed under Phase 1 and Phase 2.

Thank you for doing your part to support transit as an essential service.

Effective Monday, March 23, 2020 until further notice

Mason Transit will run on reduced service.   Jefferson

Transit’s #1 Brinnon route will not service Triton Cove,

service will end at the Black Point Turnaround.

As a temporary precaution to help limit the spread of the Corona Virus / COVID-19 the Customer Service and Administration lobby will be closed to the public until further notice.

During the closure Customer Service representatives will be available by calling 360-385-4777 during normal business hours. Monday through Friday from
8:00 am to 5:15 pm

Boarding the bus:

  • Only riders that need the use of the lift or ramp will board at the front doors
  • All other riders will board at the rear door
  • All passengers are FARE FREE

Limiting the Spread of Coronavirus

Jefferson Transit is taking steps to limit the spread of coronavirus through its operations. Jefferson Transit fixed-route vehicles are disinfected nightly with a decontaminate fogger.  All other passenger vehicles are disinfected by hand as they return from service with an antiviral solution that kills coronavirus.  For more information on the disinfectant used visit:

Jefferson Transit has supplied its front-line staff with gloves and sanitizer wipes to reduce their risk of infection from germs. Hand sanitizer stations are available to passengers in the Fixed Route and Dial-A-Ride buses. Passengers are required to wear a mask at all times while aboard JTA vehicles.

Jefferson Transit has installed Plexiglas barriers to reduce the contact between the Bus operators and riders. Passengers who do not require the use of a lift or ramp should use the rear door on the fixed route vehicles to board or debark from the bus.

Jefferson Transit continues to monitor the alerts from the Jefferson County Public Health and encourages our customers to follow the directions of public health officials.

Jefferson Transit, COVID-19 Monitoring

We understand with the recent outbreak of the coronavirus people may be feeling anxiety and concern about riding public transportation.  We want to assure you Jefferson Transit is following alerts from the public health department. We encourage our customers to follow the directions of public health officials including frequent hand washing, covering your cough and sneezes, and avoiding touching your face. We ask that all riders take the advice of health authorities to stay home and avoid public places if you or someone you live with are sick, especially if there are symptoms such as a fever, cough or other respiratory symptoms.

Our top priority is to help support the public and our employees in staying healthy and safe. Thank you for partnering with us to help prevent the spread of illness.

Please Yield to buses re-entering traffic

Please Yield to buses reentering traffic.

There are more people each day choosing to use public transportation to get to and from their destinations. The Transit bus makes several stops along the route to pick up and drop off passengers. This can make it difficult to keep things moving and on schedule. If you see a Transit bus signaling to re-enter traffic please yield to allow them to merge safely back into traffic. By doing this it will help to get passengers to their destination safely and on time. The drivers and passengers thank you for courtesy.

RCW 46.61.220: You must yield to any transit vehicle (bus) that has signaled and is pulling back onto the roadway.
