Friday, June 26, 2020 Statewide Requirement to Wear Face Coverings

Effective June, 26 Jefferson Transit is following a statewide mandatory face covering order issued on June 23 by Governor Jay Inslee and the state Secretary of Health. The order requires people to wear a face covering in indoor public spaces and outdoors where six feet of distance from others isn’t possible.

According to the Health Secretary, wearing a mask is one of the most effective things people can do to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.  Jefferson Transit will require wearing a face covering on all Jefferson Transit buses and properties to protect employees and riders who depend on our transit system for essential rides.

Face masks are not required for children under the age of 2; any child who is at least two and less than twelve years of age unless a parent or caregiver supervises the use of the cloth face; individuals who are unable to remove face masks without assistance; individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and rely on facial and mouth movements for communication; and individuals who have been advised by a medical professional that wearing a face covering may pose a risk to their health.
