Microtransit Pilot
JTA will implement the first phase of microtransit to encompass Castle Hill, Cook Avenue, Hastings and Cape George areas.
- Microtransit, home to hub service will be implemented with the elimination of the 3 Castle Hill route.
- The proposed microtransit pilot includes service in the Cape George area, an area not currently served by fixed-route transit.
Establish the San Juan/Uptown Connector Route
- Similar to the existing Fort Worden route, with proposed changes to improve service.
- To ensure the route remains under 30 minutes, buses will no longer travel into Fort Worden. A new stop near Fort Worden will be added to continue serving the area.
- The new route would improve service in the San Juan Uptown area, increasing frequency from every hour to every 30 minutes.
2027 Service Change Proposals
Establish a new Tri-Area local loop
- Increase service for riders in Irondale, Port Hadlock and Chimacum.
- 30 minute loop will streamline service for riders wanting to travel between Irondale, Port Hadlock and Chimacum.
- Route 6 Tri-Area will be available for riders wanting to go into Port Townsend.
Evaluate the need for a Tri-Area Express
- This new route would service Chimacum High School and Port Hadlock.
- Would service new transit hub at the Jefferson County Library.
- Would bypass Four Corners Park and Ride for a streamlined route into Port Townsend.
Establish a Tri Area Hub
- Jefferson Transit will utilize the current space at the Jefferson County Library stop as a transfer point, allowing Tri-Area residents to connect with the 6 Tri-Area route to and from Port Townsend.
